joining and converting to dvd

im using x audio video joiner to join 8 avi files together which works ok but when i convert them to dvd using winavi 6.3 it only converts the first avi file ive tried this a couple of times, does it every time. any ideas anyone.

I've used WinAvi 4(?) and 7 and used VirtualDub to join the files with no problem. (VirtualDub is a freebie, so it's worth trying!) http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/

thanks ive got virtualdub but when i try and load the file it says 'cannot detect file type' so im not sure what to do.
