the good lady and myself are looking to purchase a new gas cooker. she is admant it has to be silver or stainless steel, and of 55 cm width.

we like the cannon chester but also the electrolux insight ekg5543xn which is stainless steel.

the question is, the electrolux has 2 ovens, but the websites ive been on say it is one oven and one grill. but in the picture the second oven is as big as the first. does anyone know if it is actually a grill only or is it a combined oven/grill like many of the manufacturers put on their ovens.

can anyone recommend a good oven?

It would seem the electrolux is a double-oven.

I can't recommend one as I use all-electric, and I will keep my opinions of stainless steel to myself.

*Don't like all that cleaning!*
gucciman, As you have probably realised, gas cookers are not as sturdy/strong in manufacture as they used to be, but Cannon have retained a very good standard. We bought one last year - very satisfied.

Dear gucciman, we have always had Smeg ovens, and in stainless steel, cleaning them is easy provided you have baby oil! and Barmens Friend cleaning powder. These ovens are like a fine car and take time to run in, we are buying one for the house we've just moved into.

if you have one of those nectar cards, buy from sainsburys, worth the points.

We have a Cannon Chester. It is a good cooker. The lower oven is settable using the timer. The ovens light themselves when you turn on the gas. The lower oven has a light which comes on when you are using the oven. The clock has a handy kitchen timer to tell you when your chips (or anything else) is ready. The glass on the oven doors is easily removed for cleaning in the dishwasher. The feet are adjustable. The gas rings on the hob will cut out if you close the glass lid without first turning off the gas (safety). The ignition is mains powered - no faffing about with batteries. We would recommend the Chester.
