Windows XP, Problematic?

I've had Windows XP (Pro version) for about 2 months now and I'm not impressed. It has crashed (physical memory dumps) well over 30 times. All updates have been downloaded and installed, but they don't help. I previously had Windows ME (not so good either) which only crashed 30 odd times in 1 1/2 years. (wish I bought Win 2000 now!) Anyone else had problems with XP, or is it just me?

It's a notoriously buggy system, (but the home edition is supposed to be more stable.) I'd personally contact Microsoft and ask for a refund or have it replaced with Win 2k which was a much better system and more compatible generally.

Actually, Windows XP (Home or Professional) is, comparatively, extremely reliable and far more so that any of the 95/98/ME chain: what's annoying is that as with most Microsoft OS releases, they change very little from version to version but always enough to ensure that nothing ever runs smoothly! Have you checked hardware compatibility using your CD? It should warn you of any potential problems. Alternatively, have you ensured you have the latest drivers for XP from ALL your hardware manufacturers (such as video card, motherboard, network card, etc.)
