Hopefully buenchico will see this and be able to help..

Hotmail is now Outlook. If your tablet has opened emails using the hotmail address( you keep that in Outlook) then it means your old hotmail account is now outlook as well. You will need to get that up and runnning on the pc. Once you have used outlook there is no going back to hotmail on any device.  Outlook is fine by the way.

Here is the Outlook link. I do not know whether it will run in W7 though. | will have a look after I have eaten if the question is not resolved.

Having a quick look suggests that Outlook will only run in W7 if you initiated the 2013 upgrade( it was also available in 2003, 2007 and 2010 iterations). The 2013 version is not compatable with W7 and no longer available as an option  I believe. Again I will have a hunt to see if it can be attained.

I found this. It looks safe and may even have the 2019 tweaks in it. You have obviously been resisting Outlook for some time. I know how you feel as I had a hotmail account from about 1997 and also tried to stay with it. Subsequent system upgrades forced my hand and I am now happy with the Outlook set up. You will need to make your own personal settings but it is not a big deal once done. I feel that if the tablet did let you open your hotmail messages then you now have an Outlook profile. Getting rid of the tablet will not bring hotmail back. Incidently you can make new outlook email accouts and still have them has hotmail rather than outlook. Here is the free download to W7 link for Outlook.

Thank you Toga.but it was fine I til a couple of days ago.I upgraded my Samsung tablet and transferred data from my old one but this happened since.I have returned the tablet ,sticking a bit longer with my old one.i .of course, reset the new back to factory state.I need the PC as my printer is on it.I was working fine before i got that new tablet.it messed Hotmail up.Luckily have my phone and tablet.if i do as you say. Will my messages/.folders still be intact? Thank you so much for getting back to me.:):) BTW.am getting a Chrome book.:)

Yes all your archived messages, contacts lists, and settings should be the same. Not knowing your set up and having a bit of a guess, I would suppose that when you initiated the tablet it has somehow enabled the account sync to operate and the tablet would not have had the facility to use the old hotmail format but happily automaticaly opened your email account in outlook. The sync facility that used to be optional is now a default setting on some devices and bingo your pc wants to use outlook after it was synced with the tablet. I feel it would have happened eventually anyway. Microsoft likes all devices using the same account to be synced for obvious security concerns. Outlook will not affect your pc operation. Plus you can operate a printer from a phone or most devices. It is a bit of a faff to set up mind. Something very similar happened to me when my surface pro upgraded to W11 and auto synced with the desktop. Prior to that I was using a laptop that happily ran hotmail alongside the desktop and was synced up. It annoyed me too. We all hate being railroaded . Haha. I am over it now.

are you able to log on via the web link?

https://outlook.live.com/

That takes you to the latest outlook version TTT. I do not think it will run with W7. That is why I posted the 19.44 link.

It should togs as it works via a browser not directly.

No one should be running W7 now, it has the security of a sieve.

The link TTT should work it goes directly to the exchange server and is browser baased.

Outlook will sync over multiple devices you can also add other emails (non MS) so long as you know the pop3.IMAP.stmp settings.

//of course, reset the new back to factory state.//

Sadly if the device falls into the hands of someone like me I could no doubt get back much of the data you had on there.

I did wonder whether the latest browser editions would run with W7 so played safe and found an outlook version that definitely runs in the 2013 W7 version. I have even forgotten what W7 looked like now. Seems only yesterday that it was all singing and dancing.

Strange how a question can set you off looking for different answerers. After wondering about it I had a quick look, and find that microsoft did indeed develop a chromium based edge versiuon to run on W7 . I was released in 2020 but is only available if you have done all the previous W7 updates that were offered. So back on the bus here. If Kloofnek is going to obtain the latest outlook iteration then the latest browser version and the original updates need doing first. The 19.44 link containing an early version of outlook will run on all pre 1919 W7 OS's and browser formats.

My advice would be to dump W7 ASAP.

It's a nightmare waiting to happen security wise.

I made it worse YMB. I just put W7 into 1919 instead of 2019. You would need a tablet for that version, plus a hammer and chisel like the Flintstones.

Actually I sometimes find my PC easier than my other devices ,i do have a security that keeps it safe ,i know they say that Windows 7 has no updates etc.but mine is fine.I do not use it much ,mainly for printing or when I  want a wide screen for doing Family Research. My printer is not wireless. When you ask if can login from a web link, you mean opening from a link or with a search engine ,I have Chrome.Have not tried the links you sent yesterday as wanted to ask about whether I would lose my folders etc.on my Hotmail.

Going to try it now on my PC  will probably have put the links in manually with my Hotmail not receiving.Wish me luck:)
