I use a Belkin wifi router with no problems and would say that this is unusual behaviour. Have you contacted either Belkin or the supplier?

Have you got a CABLE modem/router or an ADSL? there is a difference.

I (mistakenly) used an ADSL router with NTL broadband and had the same problems, eventually sacking NTL as I thought they were rubbish (they were, but not on this issue, in their defence).

Now have I gone back to BT broadband using the Belkin router with ADSL as it is intended, all is fine as I sit here and type in wireless glory. When I was with Ntl I tried to get advice on the different types of routers and their suitability to cable broadband at my local PC World and they looked at me like I was from Mars!

This site helped me immensely:

http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk - go to the section on routers, all explained.

Hope that helps

Steve

Make sure your router is in a well ventilated area and that nothing is placed on top of it and that it is not sitting on top of another electrical device. Belkin Routers have a tendency to get very hot which can lead to the power (and as such the connection) dropping.

I had a similar problem when my router was sitting just above my printer, I moved it up to the shelf above my computer and haven't had a problem since.

it could be a heat issue, as lonzuk says, or is it actually powering down? if its still swirched on, with some lights showing, but the internet not working, go into your router settings ( enter 192.168.2.1 in your web browser), and see if it says if you're connected or not. if not, press connect.

this happens to me once a day or every few days too, when the connection isnt being used for a few hours. its NTLs fault.
