I have been paying for AVG security, driver updater and tune up for a number of years. I'm shortly to renew my subscriptions. Do I need all this or is there sufficient security on Windows 10 to be able to forgo these subscriptions?

buenchicos given advice on this a couple of times.... basically Windows security is at least as good and is included free, AVG adds nothing to security
I used to use AVG some time ago but removed it. Provided you Windows 10 up to date, Windows Defender is fine. Been using for some time now, no problems.
In my humble opinion, the security software built into Windows is all you really need. I've never paid for any subscription service and, in a quarter of a century online, I've never experienced any computer problems that could have been avoided through having such a subscription.

Windows 10 comes with built-in security features that can protect your computer from viruses, malware, and other threats. However, these features are not perfect, and they may not be enough to protect your computer from all threats.

AVG security, driver updater, and tune up can all help to improve your computer's security. AVG security can scan your computer for viruses and malware, and it can also block phishing attacks and other online threats. Driver updater can help to keep your drivers up to date, which can improve your computer's performance and stability. Tune up can help to clean up your computer's registry and remove unnecessary files, which can also improve your computer's performance.

Whether or not you need to renew your subscriptions to AVG security, driver updater, and tune up depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you are concerned about your computer's security, then you may want to consider renewing your subscriptions. However, if you are not concerned about your computer's security, then you may be able to forgo these subscriptions and rely on Windows 10's built-in security features.

Here are some things you can do to improve your computer's security without paying for a third-party security software:

Keep your operating system and software up to date.
Use a strong password and change it regularly.
Be careful about what websites you visit and what links you click on.
Only download files from trusted sources.
Install a firewall.
Use a VPN when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.
Back up your data regularly.
By following these tips, you can help to keep your computer safe from viruses, malware, and other threats.
