Problem With Sound Source On Sound Base

Just purchased a Cambrige Audi tv V2 Sound Base. Connected to Samsung 8500 TV via optical cable. Source defaults to optical for normal TV programmes . However, when using NOW TV app there is no sound coming through sound base when Audio source is on default as Optical. I have to change it back to TV speakers and then it comes through the soundbase. Any ideas how I can get sound via Optical and not have to keep changing it to TV Speakers? Not very good with these things so any help/suggestions appreciated
