Indeed you can, although if you save it as computer data, it won't play back in a DVD player unless the DVD player supports MP3 playback. If it's purely for backing-up the file, then that isn't even a consideration.

However, it might be worth using a CD-R or CD-RW if it's just the one Audio Book that you're backing-up, if only because there'd be an awful awful lot of wasted space on a DVD if you're just putting a single audio book onto it. Remember that a single layer DVD can hold around 4.7GB (Gigabytes) of data, and I very much doubt that your Audio Book is anywhere near that size. I could be wrong, but I feel it's unlikely to be that big.

Still, it will work in any case.

Thanks a lot - you've been a great help.
Try it but be aware that even if the DVD player can play mp3s on CD, it may not play mp3s on a DVD. I had this problem on my older DVD player but more of the newer ones (see Aria.co.uk) can play mp3s on a DVD.
PS. (and to Mobius1) a recent (free) download of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice took up 5CDs!!!!
