Love this blouse and accidentally got some brown paint on it some time ago. Would love to get it restored. It is at the front of the blouse but blouse itself has lovely quality material.

It doesn't sound good, jenny. You might have been able to rinse it out with cold water at the time, but too late for that now.

You could try dabbing the stain with turps or meths.
What fabric is it?
Patterned or plain
If plain what colour
How big is the stain
What have you tried already
I am a dab hand with stains but need to know what I am dealing with
just googled how to get dry paint off clothes and there is a method using hairspray x

it is sorta silk blouse and I think I was carelessly working when painting something and the breast bit got the paint.
Question Author
plain cream blouse but such lovely quality
The best option for dried in paint is acetone followed by mild detergent but this can damage some synthetics and affect colours. Sometimes eucalyptus oil works, sometimes a commercial stain remover is better. Being a messy crafter I am always trying to get stuff out of clothes.
My last resort is to embroider the item but JJ admits she isn't that handy.

you know the stain happened some while ago and I never fussed so nothing was done to it except washed it.

may give it a wee bit of TLC today with some products I have - even if I don't get off a little bit - I can wear it under another top. Thanks for your help. Don't really speak at this time of the morning. good morning x

a good tho what Rowan is saying - there is a local fabric place near me and they could have like an embroiderie say motif - could stick that on - rather than losing the blouse.
Cream and silk ok acetone nail varnish remover should be ok dab it on. Leave for about 15 minutes then work a little washing up liquid into it, try to lift any solid areas of paint with your finger nails. Rinse with clean water. You might need to repeat a couple of times. If the cream looks a little discoloured soak the blouse in a bowl of warm water as silk dyes are very unstable and may even out. Wash and dry as normal.

ach thanks Rowan - talented wee woman you are LOl - as my mother would says "hands for anything". cat sitting, growing fruits, sewing and crafts amongst many. Thanks Ro
Most large dry cleaners also offer specialist cleaning. Take it to one and ask advice.

a wee followup - knowing the blouse is finished and would have to be thrown out - I left in the bathroom sink and just a put a dollop of Domestos on it. Came up like a dream. So now I have a new blouse.
Stain not paint then... that's good.
Question Author
yes you're right Ro - do think it was woodstain when I was painting the fence.
