On a normal computer with a CD and DVD drives are the discs interchangeable. Can they both be played individually on both drives

You need a DVD drive to read DVDs, hence its a DVD drive. Yes it will read CDs as well. A CD drive won't read DVDs.

If you mean you have a CD drive AND a seperate DVD drive (ie 2 drives)


The CD will work in the DVD drive, the DVD will NOT work in the CD drive.

Thanks veryhelpfulguy and skids. You have exactly answered my question.!
One other thing, if you are wanting to hear what's on the disk then each drive must have a lead internally connected to the sound card. Sometimes only one drive is connected in this way (just in case you thought there was a fault with one of the drives!).
