Too Many 'scripts' Happening On My Browser.

I am on firefox and i keep getting a lag and then a freeze, and a box pops up and says a script is slowing it down and asks me if i want to stop it or wait.

Its driving me mad!

what can i do to stop this? it seems to be on facebook mainly, but does happen on other pages
