nvidia graphic driver

hello there every so often my comp reboots itself then gives me an error message saying that the problem was caused by my graphic nvidia graphics drive and recomends me to update it .I have found the relevant site but am scared to death of upsettin my pc any more

so my question is if i do dre to update the driver where on my pc do i save it too ,and secondly how do i get my pc to use it instead ofthe of one

I am running windows xp home edition and although i am a fairly experienced pc user it frightens me in case i upet something and make my problem worse . just to add this is not rebooting all the time just occasionaly . oh and i just thought of another question what is it that uses the graphics driver as this has only happened recently i wondered if it may be the updated MSN messager or maybe yahoo messager

if you download the driver from the manufacturer's site, then there isn't much risk.
Anyway, you should have the previous driver saved somewhere or on a CD , in case the new driver is worse.

Just download the new driver anywhere on your PC, such as "my documents" or even the desktop.
It should be a program, you'll just have to run it and follow the instructions.

That kind of problem is pretty common, it happens to me whenever I buy a new video card.
But it's strange that it only happens recently for you ...

If you're worried about causing more computer problems, the safest idea is to create a system restore point, using Windows XP's System Restore function on your computer that you can revert to if it all goes wrong.
The nVidia website will probably require you to save a file, but it doesn't matter where you save it, as long as you remember where it is. When you run the downloaded file, it will extract all the new driver information to your computer.

MSN or Yahoo messenger are not likely to be the causes of a graphics driver failure. The graphics card is purely responsible for the output to your screen, so messaging applications shouldn't have an affect on that.
