I have just returned from the Hospital, after visiting my brother. As well as all the smokers clustered around the large, prominent NO SMOKING signs, I noticed another bio-hazard !

There were a few of those large rubbish bins, with the small cigarette stubbing-out area on the top. But the tops of the bins has lots of globules of used chewing gum on them !

If someone has taken the trouble to get as far as the bin, to dispose of the gum, and NOT just drop it on the floor, why on earth would they then leave the bloody stuff on the top, instead of putting it actually in the bin ?

How disgusting is that ?

While we at it....isn't a bit weird that the smokers should choose an area directly underneath the No Smoking signs, in order to smoke ?
As disgusting as me having to pick this stuff up between a paper tissue from the urinals in work! We are one lazy society Mikey. People don't care or have respect any more for their surroundings. It's contagious, people see litter about and think why not.
LOL @ Tilly.
I think we're way past some children being brought up to dispose of rubbish properly, and so it goes on.
Schools used to rope children in to do a litter pick, is that done any more? It has to start in the home though.
Eleena - I don't know how old you are but kids nowadays are probably better than ever before. I remember when I was a kid and you used to find gum stuck under tables...
Me and my three year old granddaughter go out and do the recycling together, I want her to learn what goes in what bin, and she enjoys doing it!
I really hope so, I know at Uni I clear a lot of gum away, we have special gum remover.
This stuff is trodden on to staircases, carpets, common rooms, urinals.
The disinclination towards personal responsibility is endemic to a morally bereft society.
I wish I could string a sentence together like that David, that's just spot on.
I remember getting chewing gum on my pleated skirt when I was at school. Someone had put a glob of it under the desk. My mum went mad when she saw it! This was in the sixties.
i imagine there a gum spitting competitions and the poor players miss the bin ...
Bet it was nicotine gum :-)
I agree Mikey, they should keep it till they're walking the dog then pop it in the bag with the doglog before hanging it on a bush.
