Hi My ipad says not charging in the right hand top corner where the battery symbol is, I have been on the phone to apple and done all the checks, updates etc the lot and it has been sent off to apple and returned today saying, It has passed all apple checks etc, but it still says not charging grrrr.
It does however seem to be charging very slowly, anyone know what I should do?
Ipad is only 8 months old TIA
In that case I'd be taking it back to wherever I bought it (not Apple, unless it was a direct purchase from them) - it's not fit for purpose and hasn't been cured by the manufacturer, so the retailer should refund/replace.
they not interested as it still charges even though it says its not?? I got it from Very catalogue but Apple are responsible and have been through every diognostic check and it has been to them and looked at by their people, im going to run it down completely and then see what happens when I charge it from dead, if says the same, I will ring them again and you need a long time out your day to do this!!
Can you remove the battery, whilst it is still plugged into the charger and then replace the battery again whilst still connected to the charger. Then does the message change to charging?
In an ipad you cannot take out the battery unfortunately. Apple are responsible even though I got the product from Very, been through all the phone calls, boring really!
I got it in June 2016 so it is still in warrenty so not charging luckily.
thanks for all replies
Hi again Chess. Don't have an a ipad but was intrigued and had a look around. It would appear that it is critical that you use the 2.1amp ipad charger and not the 1amp iPhone charger. It also appears that Apple themselves are saying that it can take up to 7 hours to fully charge one and longer still if it is in use whilst charging. Crikey there must be millions of ipads on permanent charge all over the world.
chessington, regardless of what Very claims, the Consumer Rights Act says they are responsible and they cannot override it. Tell them that you will report them to Trading Standards if they do not comply with the Act.
If you paid by credit card or through Shop Direct Finance Company Limited via Very you can also claim from the credit company under s.75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
