....I posted this a while ago in 'computers' without much success...
so here I go again...

My 'Links' have sites like 'Answerbank' 'Ebay' 'Amazon' 'BBC' and various others.

Every time I click on a link I get a window saying 'security warning...Do you want to open this file' with the options 'open' or 'cancel'. I click 'open' and all is well.

This 'window' is new to my computer and has not been seen in more than five years. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it.....Thank you.

It would be helpful have some system and browser details janzman. ie w7, xp, 8 and chrome, explorer or whatever. When you say links do you mean shortcuts or favourites ?
Just found your previous post W7 and chrome. Let me have a think.
Looks like security integrity level settings. Don't forget that w7 has limited support from Microsoft now. W10 excellent.

1. Click Start, type cmd.exe

2. Right-click cmd.exe in Start menu search results and click Run as Administrator.

3. Type the following command and press ENTER
ICACLS "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" /Setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)M

Don't forget you don't have to type out the command you can just copy it and paste it into the command box.
