I wish to transfer some items from my computer to my phone via bluetooth, but my computer fails to recognise my phone even though bluetooth is switched on.

I can however transfer items from my phone to my computer, via bluetooth.

Could anyone please tell me why the difference?

Can't answer you question, but I can tell you that using a USB cable will be 20-30 times quicker.

From you Computer have you tried to search for devices when sending a file.
The following a shortcut assumes you are using a PC and not a Mac

Yes that is the problem, although I switch on my phone's bluetooth, my PC fails to recognise it during it's search for devices.
