I have tried to do it by using the control pane to uninstall, altho it has disappeared from the list when I try to do the same with other adobe stuff and just keep the flash player it just keeps coming up 'please wait until current program has finished uninstalling or being changed' I need it to go as I cannot create a PDF document for some reason,I get told 'missing or corrupted file' so have decided to change to Foxit which I see is well recommended on AB.

When uninstalling several programs (or, indeed, installing several programs) it's always best to restart your computer between each operation (as that forces the registry to update itself). That might fix your problem.

Foxit is good but I've always been a great fan of the wonderful Sumatra PDF which, I note, is also recommended as the best pdf viewer in the cyurrent issue of Web User magazine:
