Ipad Bookmarks Disappeared!

All my bookmarks and favourites have simply disappeared this morning. There was an earlier update from Apple - could this have anything to do with it? Should I be doing anything to solve this or do these things resolve them selves?
Many thanks for all suggestions as I am an ignoramus with such matters.

Try switching off your iPad . Then try again as I have found this sometimes solves problems Hope this helps

when you go to Safari is the screen at the top of the page you are browsing. Because if you move down the page the icons disappear.
