Please can anyone advise how to remove istartsurf? I am using Windows 7 Home Edition and Firefox.

There's an 'Uninstall' link below all the icons with instructions on how uninstall it - it says 'Delete istartsurf homepage link and set a new homepage link' but I cannot find an istartsurf homepage link.

I've run Malwarebytes and there's no mention of istartsurf on the report. I have reset Firefox and that hasn't got rid of it either. :o(

Thanks for any replies, folks. I am off out now but will look in later.

oops!
Supposed to be two separate links, but the youtube link ended up being embedded.

Thanks very much, Alice, it's very kind of you to post the link. I had actually seen that website this morning and tried to follow the instructions, without success.

Strangely, I've just downloaded something called Adblock Plus, it only took seconds to download, and so far (everything crossed) it seems to have solved the problem. I just hope I'm not speaking too soon. :o/
ohh i see adblock plus got through the swear filter!

Try this, it certainly can't do any harm

Open Firefox browser and then navigate to the Tools menu (press “F10″ key on your keyboard once to active the menu bar if it’s not visible). Now click on Add-ons and you’ll be redirected to the add-ons page. Click on extensions on the left side panel. Now you should look on the right side panel and you’ll see the list of all installed add-ons. Now you can Disable or Remove ”complitly IStartSurf.com homepage ” add-on and also disable or remove all the unknown or unwanted add-ons from here.

Methyl, I can't find any shortcuts or any reference to istartsurf, I've done a search and I've looked at Add/Remove Programs, no mention of it anywhere.

HC, when I try your suggestion I get this message.....'You don't have any Add Ons of this type installed'.

I'm very dim when it comes to computing, I only know the very basics and this is baffling me.

Thanks for replies, all.

I've right-clicked on Firefox in the Start Menu and the following comes up:

Open
Run as administrator
Troubleshoot compatibility
Open file location
Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials
Unpin from Taskbar
Unpin from Start Menu
Restore previous versions
Send to
Cut
Copy
Delete
Rename
Properties

How will I know if anything has been interfered with please?

Thank you for your efforts, Methyl, I am way out of my depth here. I'm what's known as a 'silver surfer' I guess, just an old duffer who doesn't understand the vast majority of it and feel like I'm going round in circles.

Perhaps I'll just have to persevere with it. Put up and shut up. :o(

I get exactly the same as you when I click oN the Firefox icon (no mention of istartsurf).

When I click on the Internet Explorer icon I get a long string of letters and figures, and just below IT, 'Start In: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH'.

Excuse typos there, it's been a long day. I did intentionally put the two % signs though (although my keyboard keeps sticking).
