We are just about to buy a new TV - the old one has decided to switch itself on nad off all by itself, which is annoying in teh extreme.
I'm looking at a JVC. There is an offer for 'Picture Perfect' at £20 (£30 if bought separately from the TV). Can anyone tell me whether it improves the picture enough to be worhtwhile?
Also, any views on JVC TVs?

Hope this is the right section for this
Thanks

I've just bought a 22" JVC and it's excellent but needs regular re-tuning. Seems to be VERY sensitive.
Picture Perfect is an interesting idea - most domestic TVs are appallingly badly set up (gaudy colours, too bright etc etc) and if this DVD guide can help you get the best out of a new TV it may be worthwhile.

I'd put JVC in the 'third rank' of TV manufacturers. Nowhere near as good as Sony or Panasonic, just a bit behind Samsung and Toshiba, level with Hitachi and LG - but way ahead of most 'own brand' or 'never heard of it' sets.

umm - think that would be very annoying
Goofy, it's not really. It has to be done approx once a month -6 weeks or so.

Samsung - don't know the model.
Only bought it in May 2011 to replace the one that went BANG!
Goofy...had you bought your Samsung from John Lewis or Richer Sounds, it would be only part way through it's included five-year warranty and would have been repaired or replaced.
Incidentally, I'd pass on the JVC....not that good at TVs.

bought it from currys (or comet even!)
Have you got the manual? That will tell you the model number. It could simply be a power saving setting you've accidentally switched on.

never thought of that - will look
