On my Sony Xperia L home page I have window that shows the weather which not only shows the degrees but also an animation showing if it is cloudy or raining etc. this is supplied by AccuWeather's web site.

The problem I have started to experience is that when I tap on the next day's weather it completely switches my phone off after only a few seconds, yet if I tap on the separate AccuWeather App this problem does occur.

Any ideas please?

I've got a Sony Xperia S which also uses the accuweather app.
I encountered a problem with accuweather a while ago, albeit a different one to yours. I just deleted/uninstalled it and then reinstalled it - it sorted the problem out and I haven't had any problem since :)

Thanks for that but the app seems to work perfectly, it is this other thing that I am told is a Widget which when pressed seems to connect one to the accuweather site.

But I don't know the difference between a widget and a app, and how to delete and reinstall a widget.
To be honest, it's been that long since I messed with any of the widgets and apps, I can't really remember.
To delete a widget, press and hold in the widget - a bin will appear at the bottom of the screen - drag the widget into the bin.
I think if you press and hold down on your home screen, you get a list of icons and other options appear at the bottom of the screen .... but I can't really remember soz ;(
