Dvd rom drive tray problem

It keeps ejecting and closing all the time..

Anyone know what could be the problem, or anybody have similar problems..?????

First thing to do is check that your PC recognises the drive properly. Open the device manager and if you see a question mark or exclamation mark next to something that suggests you may have to reload the drivers for that particular item of hardware. You should also check that the tray is clean. Buy a can of compressed air and blow all the dust etc out. It might be worth buying a cleaner disc from a computer shop. This will clean the laser lens.

Mine just starting doing this, so I've tried many of the recommendations offered here and elsewhere. The one that finally worked was simply shooting canned air into the spaces around the tray button, indicating that the switch sensor was dirty. This has also cleared up the tray not opening problem that preceded this one. Also, while a tray is repeatedly recycling, no discs can be read or written to.
