I have XP SP2 32bit. I have never been able to go to SP3 so I haven't updated for a couple of years and never use Int.Exp. only Firefox 21.

1) Now XP is not backed and I dont update anyway is the Windows Firewall any protection. If not, do I uninstall it and load another one. Any advice on which?
2) Anything higher than Firefox 21 doesn't like my SP2 (Or computer works),
Are Firefox updates antimalware things so am I also vulnerable there?
I already have free Avast,MBAM,SAS, and Spy Shelter.
Sorry my post is complicated but I have never understood these constant updates badgering everyday. Thanks for any help.

Thanks but I dont consider buy another computer a lot of use I dont use Int.Expl. or Jajah. So that must explain why I have not been affected over the last 6 years (on generally every day). I have just checked and Firefox says that Adobe and Shockwave Flash are both up to date. A full scan with SAS has just listed the usual adaware cookies. I may see if Comodo Icedragon will function OK with my setup.
I don't want to be unkind, but if you aren't going to update your system it's a bit much expecting people to be much help on stuff that is way out of date.

If you are determined to carry on with XP SP2, you could at least turn off the automatic Firefox updates ...
If your Firefox is 0ut-of-date it is possible that is the reason it is saying that other software is Up-to-date.

It's a thought........Hans.
Out of curiosity, why have you never been able to "go to SP3"?

To AB Editor well the posting given above by methyl says it for me. Threw me into a loop etc. and black screen. As said before I live in a Spanish village, Know very little technically and my only resort is online. My son on a visit about a year ago, tried to update SP3 and no joy. He is an Internet Manager for a major Company so it must be knowledgeable enough.I am now on Firefox 25.1
which updated itself today, I dont know if that will be a problem.
Am I getting no support from windows firewall, so do I load zoneAlarm for instance, and am I able to take out the windows one? I have the real time Avast free
As you can see, my needs are basic. Not everybody can 'throw out their computer' Even ZX81 wastnt out when I retired.!
