Kindle Paperwhite...discontinued?

On the Amazon website,the Paperwhite is 'currently unavailable'. Also stated is that "kindle Paperwhite '*may* still be available' at some of our retail partners''.... and that the kindle 3g is still available.
I can't find out anything on the website.

Currys have them in, Blackburn two left. Bought one on Sat.

Yes, I know they can be bought in a few other places,but its odd that Amazon says they do not know when or if it will be back in stock.

Perhaps it is now regarded as 'out-of-date' and will not be replaced. Things move so quickly in the technological field that as soon as something hits the market another item is developed.

Amazon are for the moment still selling the 3G.
