I am trying to move an autoshape only a minute distance in Word 2000 (company's system so unable to use a better version). The autoshape moves too far even with a small mouse move which I presume is to do with aligning with the ruler. Is there a way to move it just a fraction? Thanks

I haven't used WORD for many years but I seem to recall that holding down the ALT key when you move it, over-rides the 'snap-to-grid' feature (but I may be thinking of a different program). Try it anyway.
If snap to is off, try using the arrow keys to nudge a bit more precisely
you can also try zooming in to a much higher view level and try moving it that way.
that should say make sure snap to is off

Wow! That is excellent and has worked perfectly. Thank you for such a great tip. Have used Word and PowerPoint for years and if I had known this simple tip it would of saved me hours over this time. Really appreciated. Thanks again :-)
