Debut Video Capture Softwere Isn't Picking Up Sound?

I just downloaded it and i've tried recording some stuff on my computer. The video's working brilliantly but the sound is just static stuff. I don't know what it is, I can't find any sound related settings. Does it even pick up sound?

So which are you trying capture from?

I'm recording what is shown on my laptop screen (in this case the song Streetfight, being performed on my DVD of the musical All the Fun of the Fair)

Presumably you are able to listen to the music, if so you can 'reroute' the speaker audio back into the 'line' input port on your computer.

I just downloaded and tried it out.
All I needed to do to get it to record both video and sound from a DVD was to click Tools/Options from the Debut menu, then:
On the devices tab, in the Audio section, remove the check from "Microphone" and check "Speakers".

i did that and the static is gone. Now it's not picking up sound at all. I've got my earphones in, would that affect it?
