howdy!

I was stupid and I changed my password for my user account in windows xp. I have no "others" account so now I can't get into my computer! Is there anyway I can cancel the password or do something?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cant you even switch user to guest? Would it be too much to restart the whole computer? I just have to do mine because there was a error, just back up all your data or send some to your email box.

sorry not much help there.

Obonio's suggestion is good. If you are going to make a habit of this then I suggest you get hold of ERD commander http://www.winternals.com/Products/ which will help you crack into almost any system and reset local passwords.

I have cheked the site supplied by OBonio and this basically says, if you don't know the administrators password, you're done for!

I suspect from your question you have removed the guest option also. So you're really done for as far as recovering files is concerned.

I would get around this by borrowing and installing another hard drive, set it to master, your original to slave, boot from borrowed drive, recover important files, Format original, reinstall XP.

Long-winded, but it could save your files.

Now you're gonna find you don't have an installation disk, just a recovery disk. ....Ebay.

try pressing F8 during boot up, and choose safe mode.
I was wondering if there is a way tolog in without resetting or remove the password from the administrator

Just a few days ago, I lost my windows vista admin passwords. I solved the trouble with the help of windows password reset tool. It not only support XP/Vista/2000/NT, but also compatible with windows 7, I tested it on my computer installed with Windows 7 and remove the local user and admin accounts password successfully. It’s worth trying. You can download it from: http://www.reset-windows-password.com
