I'm thinking of getting a Kindle Fire HD, or a Microsoft Surface (not out here yet) or even a Google Nexus 7.

So what makes the Nexus better than the mini in you opinion?

I was asking similar last week but didn't get typo far so will be keeping an eye on this thread. I think I madge go for a 7" samsung galaxy tablet instead though.

Its a shame Blackberry don't make one as its for my 15 year daughter and shes obsessed with that lol....

Her brother is bored with her keep nicking his iPad so my immediate thought would be to get her the mini, son says mini but I wanted to check out a bit of the competition first.
I think Blackberry may have something similar actually.
Blackberry Playbook, on very good offer at Curry's
google nexus 7, excellent alternative
nexus 7 has google maps and streetview lol

its cheaper, battery power is excellent, user friendly, fully stocked app store
Blackberry Playbook is good quality and fantastic value at 130 quid for 64GB.
I tether mine to an ancient Nokia for Internet access when there's no available WiFi.
BUT.. distinct lack of apps. Many apps that are free for Android are paid for PB, and many paid apps are dearer for PB.
Also it comes with the appalling Bing Maps instead of Google Maps.
There's no reader for Kindle or player for Audible, but it's good for surfing, watching TV online, e-mail, etc.

I don't think she's too worried about the maps lol. My son said he had heard good and bad about the Blackberry one and she would want loads of aps... she's merrily filling up my sons iPad daily!

So it looks like it's between the Nexus and the mini tbh. The daughter being 'at that age' will probably prefer the iPad though.

Thank you for all your help.
