Open Office registration

I have been using Open Office for a few years with no problems. Suddenly they want me to register. Should I and what are the benefits? If I don't will I still be able to use Open Office free?

If you register they can collect information about your usage and inform you of any updates/patches available, I think it would also give you access to the support forums...

Personally, I never bother registering and OO will continue to be free.
