Not everyone's into soccer and it's downright annoying having to wade tghrough plenty of soccer questions to have to find one on your favourite sport.

Why can't you have two sections for the topic

  1. Sport (Soccer)
  2. Sport (non-football)

not a bad idea - the Guardian website splits football off from the rest, doubtless because tiddlywinks fans don't want to trawl through soccer and vice versa.
This was pointed out in the sports section a while ago, and as I pointed out there, if you have a seperate section for football, then why not for all other sports? You don't have to wade through anything - it's not onerous to skim down the list until you find a question you're interested in, and you can always use the search bar on the left to find specific questions.

I think you'll find the majority of football fans are also just sport fans in general - why should they have to wade through two sections when they want to make a post or a reply?
Oh, and you'd also get people posting in the wrong categories constantly.
I agree with all posts here.  And the question.  It's a great idea, but it would create too much work for our darling ABE.  Therefore I suspect a separate section won't be granted for soccer/association football.
re QmunkE's claim that if football gets one everyone will want one: a quick look suggests that about half the sports section is taken up by just one sport (which is a lot to scroll past if you're not a fan). No other sport comes near, and none I think would have a similar case to make.

Good idea; 16 out of the first 20 questions are football related in the sports category.
