Sky+ box

We have the above box plus a Samsung DVD / HiFi with hdmi switch box and have had various sound & Skybox issues eg. 'unplug HDMI' to reset etc.etc....
I do apologise if more info is required...will oblige if required.
Has anyone had similar issues mostly with loss of sound?
If I knew which piece of equipment was the culprit - we would get rid of!
So annoying!
