revisiting laptop issue

managed to prise the rescue/boot disc out of my daughter's ex's cold dead hand with the aid of guile, cunning daring do and 4 cans of strongbow, BUT, how do i get the laptop to read the disc, it still won'y let me format it at all either.

put the disk in reboot then press f2, then you have to set boot form menu, boot from save, then it should boot the cd

hi fender, thanks for that, i have managed to get it to load the rescue files from the cd but then it's saying there is no hard disc! i've checked and there is, but could it be broken?
