I've just had a look at the US Amazon site and the Kindle without advertising is $109 - I think that's around £75.
It's £89 from Amazon UK. I strongly recommend you buy it from the UK store because it will be easier to sort any problems out.

It reads more formats so you can download books from many different sources, including your local library.
