I think you are confusing enabled with disabled. Do you want them on or off?
Question Author
iwant them on there is a big red cross on the speaker icon i clicked on it but nothing happenned tia
Question Author
sorry on the icon its no audio output device is enabled-ihad to restore to factory settings because of a stupid prog which had been installed -everything etc norton wouldnt respond -now i am struggling tia
left click the speaker icon in the task bar at the bottom right......the volume bar will pop up ( says mixer at the bottom ), then left click the speaker icon in that......alternatively it can be function (fn) and one of the f keys at the top of the keyboard.
click the triangle in the blue bottom bar, and this should give you the speaker option and volume control!

increase as you would on the tv!
in that case right click the icon then left click "playback devices".....it should say speakers in the box, that and configure default etc highlights at the bottom
Have you just pressed the mute button. On my laptop (a Dell) there is a button which turns off the speakers and if you have pressed that, it shows up with a cross or a line through the speaker icon. On my laptop, this button is infront of the keyboard, on a bar - there are three buttons that control my speakers - they all have a speaker icon on them - the other two are for controlling the volume but the mute one is on the left of the three and has a speaker symbol with a cross through it.
