Change Kindle metadata on Calibre

I've downloaded some books in rtf, then converted to azw files.
But in Kindle the books' titles are always Unknown. In Calibre I've added title and author to metadata. I then drag the new book out of Calibre, but in Kindle it still shows up as Unknown. Any help gratefully received.

Seems a lot of palaver. You can just e-mail RTF files to your Kindle address, and they are converted automatically.
