is microsoft frontpage 98 compatable with microsoft office home and student 2007?

I want to buy frontpage - I've had it previously on a microsoft combined package but not on this, and no-one is saying there's will work on 2007! - and it would appear the newest is 2003 - but I'm shocked at the price! I'm not interested in designing web pages just to produce and store html pages - I've bought an 'alternative' but it will do my page but can't find how to store! there are a couple of '98's' around would they work on this version I have? obviously from my enquiry I am totally useless at the hardware /software stuff -.... if the pc switches on I'm on cloud nine!

I'm in a similar position with Dreamweaver - as you say, the costs are just shocking. However, ready-made templates and whatnot that come with your domain name seem t have improved in leaps and bounds, so I think I'm going to go software-free for a while and see how it works out. It got to be cheaper!

FrontPage is long gone. This is their current free alternative: http://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix/
You say you only want to produce and store HTML pages (though I am not sure why).
Did you know you can save Word documents as HTML so why not try that.
Produce a Word document as normal, then choose "Save As" then choose "Web page" "or HTML" format or similar (text may vary between versions of of Word).
btw I would not bother with Front Page at all, it is no longer developed or sold so you are best forgetting it.

Re. VHG's point about using Word - I've seen some very disappointed people who've used Word as a solution.
It's really a question of the right tools for the right jobs - and while you can make Word 'do', it will be overloaded with code that slows you webpage down, and if images have been included they tend to be all over the place.
I'd really recommend using web templates, blogs etc at the moment as the price of decent developer software has become eyewatering.
