Are you talking about an email sent to you as one of many recipients? What email system are you using? They are all different you know.

If a friend is passing on an e-mail to me, I ask them to send me a "blind" copy so my address doesn't come up. You would need to e-mail all friends who send you e-mails on a regular basis.

Thank you both.Vascop you are closer to getting what I'm asking. It's when emails are sent to myself and others and they all somehow infiltrate my address book. I use Windows Mail.
I don't know - people only get added to my address book when I reply to them, or type the address in myself - not when I receive an email in which I'm included.

Thanks Boxtops but I hope vascop is going to come back to me.
Do you "Reply to Sender" ? The default for doing this is I believe to add the address to your contacts

In the Mail Options under the Send tab is a box to stop this.....

Worth a try....
In outlook Express there is an option under the Send tab to 'automatically put people I reply to in my addressbook'. I presume there is something similar in Windows Mail.
I had this problem a few weeks ago. No doubt you have a tendancy to use a same password which someone has latched on to. Change your password for e-mails and the problem is finished.
