TV Remote

I have just inherited a 19" Goodmans TV (LD1945WDW). The picture is superb but the remote does not work. I tried a programmable remote but that did not work with the codes in the remotes manual (it is older than the tv!). Where can I find the code or cud a newer remote possibly work? Any chance the tv sensor is not working and not the remote? Thanks all
