I am about to place a new tv up on my sons wall and will be re-cabling the upstairs Virgin Media into his room. The box is a Cisco HD box but receiving just the basic SD signal. Do I have to use the standard scart cabling or can I use an HDMI cable (that I have in abundance) even though it will only feed the SD signal? Whilst I presume it's not possible I thought there is no harm in asking before I place it up! Thanks ABers.

Why would you presume it's not possible. HDMI will work fine with SD signals (just as it would if you simply watched a non HD channel if you did subscribe to the HD service)
