on your computer? yes - if you have a laptop, there is usually a wireless button which you can turn off. Or just unplug your router

Yeah i know that, i mean worldwide, is it constantly on? where is it?

it is different companies Marie, I would imagine on the same basis as you receiving TV channels?
On 9-11 links to the USA were cut off for at least a few hours. I guess it could be.

Hmm, but tv programmes are purposely broadcast, the internet just seems to 'be there' all the time regardless of where you are in the world or what time it is. Ooo, just had another thought, could you get the internet in space?

The internet is a concept more than a "thing" - it's about the connections between computers (and super-computers, severs etc).

My late father once asked who turned the internet off at night. I tried to explain - but I gave up after knocking myself out when I hit my head against the brick wall with too much force.
