Full HD TV

Im trying to understand the following,a TV I'm interested in is described as full HD ,with Freeview described as HD ready ?
So if a programme is in HD will i be able to view it as such or will extra equipment be needed to view in HD.

If it only has freeview (a opposed to freeview HD) then you'd need a freeview HD box to get HD.
