can he or his son not contact BT and ask them?
He will have to ring BT with account details to find out, if you have no broadband account details written down.
You will need to make sure those details are entered into the account settings of Livemails/Outlook Express/ ... whatever client on the PC is being used.
Outlook Express is pretty easy to setup and understand. Windows 7 uses a newer version (Livemail though) Keep the supplied version if using 7 .. as the latest versions are much more technical .. and quite like MS Outlook (an Office application)

or to start with, try his first name followed by his second name @btinternet.com Then try initials followed by second name. Might work!

Is there a way he can find out online ?

"You chose your email address (your BT Yahoo! Mail address is also your BT Total Broadband username) and password when you signed up for BT Total Broadband. These details were also sent to you by email or letter. If you can't remember either, please call us on 0800 800 150."

"And the Best of British Luck" in (i) getting through and understanding and (ii) a satisfactory outcome - or should that read Karachi or Chennai Luck?
Personally, I would create a new one, GoogleMail is free and fine for most people. If you use the one provided by your ISP (BT), then, should you switch to another provider in the future, SKY for example, you would need to inform everybody of your new email address as BT would close that account. By using a non-ISP related one, you can switch ISP's as often as you like.

And, of course, when I say 'you' above, I mean your friend.
When I set up my new PC I realised I'd forgotten my email password..........the nice Indian gentleman from BT sorted everything including a new password within 5 minutes.
Same here craft, its years ago but they were really helpful
Just ring them! If there was another easy way, I would have told you.

Thanks for your help, everyone. If I have problems with BT I will just get him a Yahoo one, could be easier. Good idea !
