I dont need to the do the USB stick as my XBOX is hooked up to my PC, however my lil brother doesn't have an adaptor for his XBOX so he can't watch them..

also, the DVDs I am using are JVC - R 1-16x /Vitesse ( Whatever vitesse means)

It might be the actual DVD's you are using rather than the writing software, I would almost guarantee this if it plays correctly in your PC but not anywhere else.

You should use 'silver' DVD's and DVD-R (rather than +R) for the best chance of them playing.

FYI in the XBOX360 you can just put the movie as an AVI file on a USB stick and insert it into the front of the unit and it will pick it up in the 'movie' menu system.

Just because it is an avi doesn't mean it will play correctly at all.
avi is a container .. and can present video in many formats, bitrates, frame rates, etc.
avi's that will not play, or other formats should be converted to XVid/Divx spec to Home Theater profile spec to get best results.
Best software for this without doubt is TMPGenc (which I use)
