Programme downloaded from iplayer onto Apple Mac

I am slowly joining the 21st century and have managed to download a tv prog from iplayer onto the Mac computer. Could anyone please suggest, in very easy terms, how I can watch the prog on the tv. I've managed to connect the HMDI cable from the tv to the computer, but how do I get a full screen picture up. Any help would be extremely useful.
