Do you recognise any of the emotional states in the above article. Here are the top-line concepts of them:

1. "A vague and gnawing pang of anxiety centered around an IM window that has lulled."

2. "The state of being ‘installed’ at a computer or laptop for an extended period of time without purpose, characterized by a blurry, formless anxiety undercut with something hard like desperation"

3. "The car collision of appetite and discomfort one feels simultaneously when using the internet to seek and consume images or information that may be considered unseemly or inappropriate"

4. "The sense of fatigue and disconnect one experiences after emitting a massive stream of content only to hit some kind of ‘wall’ and forget and/or abandon the entire thing."

And do you feel any of these while on AB?

My BF (a software programme designer) has all 4.

I have none.
I mainly just feel tired...
5. How about the dissociative state achieved when a certain posters get into their pet subjects...like watching a train crash...you know you ought to look away but you can't somehow find the way to the log out spot

Hi Spare,

Sorry to be off topic, can I just draw your attention to this.

Frankly - no, none of them.

I don't use IM systems - except at work, which are stictly between my manager and I because we live 140 miles apart, so it's easier to talk that way if he or I are involved in long phone calls with other people.

I am never at my PC 'without purpose' - I always have work to do, writing work at home, or research, or specific searching.

I don;t have 'car collisions' about what i look at - i am a grown-up, i search fior what i want, when i want, and i have no concept of being bothered about what other people will think, because they will never know.

I don;t get fa'tigue and disconnect' feelings on my PC, I do what I'm doing, then I stop.
I don't even understand them, never mind recognise them.
I like this:

"The simultaneous rush of adrenalin and anxiety experienced when you remember that you posted a contentious and possibly offensive-to-some remark on a forum thread, and wonder whether anyone's replied to it.

The more controversial your original comment, the sweeter and greater the angst you feel imagining the possible replies to it.

Usually this is followed by disappointment and a feeling of invalidation and emptyness when you discover no one has replied, or indeed, even noticed your post at all."
I am partly an automaton, I dont do feelings :)
cazzzz... I'm sure somewhere deep inside you is a long forgotten, yet still ever so slightly glowing ember of humanity...
no, just meat and bones.
Actually... maybe not... you are only bones and cloth after all...
;-p
its what I call, good eating.
//" And do you feel any of these whilst on AB?//

Stand up all those who say "Yes" to the Ed's question.

I feel sure that he would wish me to remain seated.!!.:-)
