No ethernet card.

I am looking at an old desktop for a friend, I have a wireless router.
There is no ethernet card or ethernet connection on the computer.
If I buy a usb wireless dongle with a driver disc, would this allow me to connect to the internet.
I know that ideally it would be better to install an ethernet card, but the computer`s not really worth it.

Basically, yes.

although as Ethernet cards are far cheaper than wireless dongles I don't quite understand the "it's not really worth it part"

Thanks for your reply, I didn`t realise they were so cheap, but are they easy to install?
The only things I`ve ever done inside casing is installed ram and swapped a cd-r for a dvd rw.
yep, just plug them into a spare PCI slot, switch on the computer, install the drivers and away you go.
