I've always been lead to beleive that SAP is this amazing 'all in one' software.

In my new role at work I'm required to use SAP. On first inspection its the most unintuitive, confusing, user unfriendly software I've ever seen. There is absolutely no way you could use it without any training unlike apps like Word, Excel etc.

Is it because I've been brain-washed to use MS app or is SAP genuinely cr4p?

SAP R3?

we used to call it cr@p R3

its the worst bit of software ive ever used
SAP is genuinely cr@p. My Company used it for years and then changed to Oracle 2 years ago, Oracle is far better and user friendly.

LOL my password is based around 'SapCr@p' !
Good grief! You mean that there's actually software out there which is worse than Microsoft products? It doesn't seem possible!!!

Actually, you're not alone in your opinion:

(See the last two reviews).

Chris
I didnt find Oracle that user friendly tho Lakitu, maybe depends on the organisation and how they set it up
It seems my Company has got something right for a cvhange then. I know that they could pick and choose what facilities to have and how they want it set up.

Mind you, after SAP, I suppose anything was going to be better LOL.
We use it and yes it is cr@p. It is good at some things but I find it inflexible, confusing and a pain in the arse!
yep and yet I still hear of more and more businesses buying SAP and I want to shake them and tell them how many man hours theyre gonna lose through it
Its also expensive crap - starting price 50k and upwards!
I think because it's as recognisable a name as Microsoft, so the numpties assume it must be good.

Cue the uh uh noise from Family Fortunes.
that would be

STOP ALL PRODUCTION

Am I right ?
I'm not wrong !
LOL,

I can really say on this one I have no idea what any of you are talking about :)
its been used for yonks tho and you'd think the word would have spread by now "dont buy, dont buy"
chuck it used to be a cheapo German (I think) programme for accounts and it expanded into a nightmare lol
LOL, maybe with the prices they charge, they have enough money in the bank to halt bad press?
and the system uses so many double negatives You don't know if You're coming on going putting it in or taking it out or in or out or shaking it all about

I used to know a contract programmer who had worked with SAP for a couple of years. He refused to list it among his skills and would not, under any circumsances, go for a job that involved it

Wow! this thread has provoked a fair few responses in a short space of time. This would indicate just how many people have been exposed to SAP and just how bad it is.

Even though my boss bills me as the 'future SAP expert' I'm really not wanting to get to grips with it' It reminds me of the old days of DOS where no two apps looked the same.

I grew up in the days of blank screens and flashing cursors and when you had to write your own software in the old days of 8-bit computing and SAP scares me!
