Word-lost the license number

I had Word installed with my Dell when I bought it 4 years ago. My system has somehow lost it and it is asking for my license number to re-install. I don't have the disc or packaging anymore. Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Long odds but if you are lucky part of the original install is still lurking and you can recover the licence code with produkey.

Good luck.

Some of the older licence keys just used to check that it was divisible by 7. Try entering a load of 7s and you may be surprised.

You may find OpenOffice an excellent replacement.

It's a free replacement for Microsoft Office (Word processor, spreadsheet, etc.), so there's no nonsense like product keys.

If you want to try it, you can run both at the same time. If you don't have much success with the above solutions, then it's always an option.

(It can open Word documents too, and can save as Word documents.)
