are temporary internet files the same as cookies ?- and if i remove temp int files will i lose my auto log ins to websites?(something which i want to avoid)

No they are not - they keep a record of the sites you have visited nnd store the web content on your hard drive.

As you can imagine - over time they can take a lot of space.

A cookie is your identity card unique to you, a small piece of data on your hard drive.

I have my browser set to deleted temporary internet files automatically every time it closes down. It does not affect my cookies.
