At last ! The Police should have done this months ago.

"Det Supt Katie Elliott said searching the site in Milton, Cambridgeshire, was "the next logical step."

Katie....that "next logical step" was in September last year, not after nearly 5 months of tipping has been done. I hope that if and when Corrie's body has been found, an Enquiry will be launched into the Police's actions in this case. Woefully inadequate so far, and this is the son of a serving Police Officer we are talking about.

// Mr Mckeague's phone signal followed the same route as the bin lorry... but the landfill site was never searched. //

Hmmm. It does appear to be somewhat inept.

Question Author
Somewhat ?

That is being very generous Gromit !

He could only have come out of that service area in another vehicle. Nobody has come forward to say that they gave him a lift, so the bin lorry would appear to be the only game in town.

If a search of the tipping area been done in the hours and days after he went missing, there could have been a chance of finding him alive. A slim chance perhaps, but a chance nevertheless.
//He could only have come out of that service area in another vehicle. //

I'm not saying they shouldn't search the site, but how would a vehicle other than a bin lorry have gained access to the tip?
"No trace was found of him on the lorry"

Durrrr - it had been emptied, dummy. Seems balatantly obvious where to start looking immediately, not five months later.
Mikey, do you really think he's dead?

I think he's staged the whole thing.
What do you base that on, NoM?
Rather brave of you to say that, NOM.
Largely gut feeling, Ummmm. However his mother has admitted that he's the world's biggest attention seeker.

For someone with that personality to sensationally disappear into thin air...I'm suspicious.
Canary, from what I remember of the case it was something to do with the weight of the lorry.

There's a bit here about it.

// ...police searched a bin lorry after finding its route matched the movements of the device..... it was found that the weight of the bin lorry's load was 15kg (33lb) - too light to have contained Mr Mckeague.//

Can't believe you posted that NoMercy.

I don't think that Corrie was in any fit state to plan anything, but nothing would please me more if he were found on a tropical beach somewhere....together with all the survivors of MH 470.
Surprisingly light load to return to the dump with, but I suppose that does explain the decision not to search the dump.
The police should deploy some of the usual left-wing AB blogger suspects to help solve these complex issues in advance of hindsight.
Mikey, what I'm saying is....something stinks here. Just my gut feeling.

Naturally I hope he's alive and well.

MH 470 - blimey have Malaysian Airways lost another one?
//something stinks here. //

It's called a landfill site.
-- answer removed --
Vortex has solved the mystery! The police can now close the investigation...
It's such a rural area, he could be lying unnoticed in a ditch somewhere.
Question Author
Beg pardon....MH370.
In Naomi's link his mother said "loves to be the centre of attention".which is completely different to be an attention seeker.
DB....I've never seen that before.

Some people have a strange sense of humour ...
